Crowded Grocery Store Aisles

grocery store aisle

I know advertisers want to get their products out there, still it bugs me how some stores fill the aisles with cardboard displays that belongs on an end cap. It simply amazes me though that the local law enforcement officials do not step in and cite offending merchandisers. If there were a fire, the situation poises potential danger to life and limb. Furthermore, the displays often make it impossible for carts to navigate by. Some think I am being a crotchety old lady. What about you?

  1. I agree with you that it is annoying. I don’t know why they wouldn’t put it on the outer part, but I have no idea. I just asked my husband what he thinks about it and he says it doesn’t bother him. What a weirdo!

  2. I am with you!

There are so many extra displays that retailers stick in the middle of already narrow shopping aisles. And then there are those people that stop in the middle of the aisle to just visit or even park their cart while off they go who-knows-where! Where have common sense and manners gone?

  3. Kathryn,

Yes, there is gamesmanship in shopping.  Be it shopping clearance with everyone out there grabbing for the same thing, getting through aisles with seniolr driven carts, or watching young mothers being played.  Can be very amusing.  Often is a comment on life and its values.  I await further comments from you.  They are the best!  Thanks for stopping by.  Please come again.  You made the day.

  4. I so agree with you on this! on a busy day with 6+carts in same aisle in same area-is a nightmare while you pull over to get your coupons out or to glance at your list or to read a product!…wow-I got that all out in 1 breath hahahaha..but,yes,I so agree with you-they can use other methods instead of making the aisles a battlefield, that you have to plan you:ok,theres aopening just enough if I shove that cart while she is not looking, then move that old mans cart while he bent over, then dash 7 steps, side swipe that cart and I am home free :)..on the other hand~my hubby LOVES this challenge and I so disown on those days!

  5. Natalie,

Happened again today in a new superstore where people not displays stood blocking the whole aisle catchiing up.
