As I See It:
The Seventh Dwarf is the CGI sequel to Men Alone in the Forest and The Forest Is Not Enough. It is neither a Snow White nor a Sleeping Beauty redo. Its characters and its plot blends 19th Century Brothers Grimm folktales. What better way is there to do that than with a birthday ball and a mix of fairytale favorite guests like Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Big Bad Wolf, Puss in the Boots?
Short Version:
Evil ice fairy Dellamorra curses Princess Rose. Youngest dwarf Bobo’s clumsiness is responsible for her pricing her finger. Only a kiss from her true love Kitchen Boy Jack can break the spell or she will slumber 100 years. So he and fellow dwarves Speedy, Tschakko, Ralph, Cooky, Cloudy, and Sunny (notice all sans beards with politically correct names), secret boyfriend Jack, and wicked dragon turned good work, all together, to make things right.
Studio Press Invitation:
Join all seven dwarfs for an adventure as big as they are small! ?It’s the eve of Princess Rose’s 18th birthday. ?Everyone in the kingdom has come to Fantabularosa Castle to celebrate including Snow white, the Seven dwarfs, Cinderella and Red Riding Hood. ?But just before the stroke of midnight Bobo, the youngest dwarf, accidentally prices the finger of princess Rose (a.k.a. Sleeping Beauty) with the cursed needle and sends the kingdom into a century-long slumber! ?To find Rose’s true love Jack to save her with a kiss, Boibo and the other six dwarfs must go on a treacherous journey, face a fiery dragon and outwit the jealous, scheming and evil witch Dellamora!
Bonus?Features:
- Character Profiles
- Sing-Alongs
- Downloadable Royal Birthday Invitation
My Opinion Only:
The Seventh Dwarf is a family movie, kid friendly especially for those aged 5-10. ?Glad its?producers chose to keep Nina Hagen (voice of Dellamorta in the German release) in the?English language release as well. ?If TSD?jokes doesn’t make its audience laugh then certainly its tap-dancing Burner will. ?Too bad the ?musical score is not more dynamic. ?Although the damsel to be rescued plot itself is worn, deceased animation artist Harald Siepermann’s merits shine through.
