Resurrection: The Complete First Season

ABC’s March 2014 series Resurrection is now available on DVD. That means you still have time for this PG fantasy drama before its second season begins.

Brief plot summary:
Dead Jacob, Caleb, Rachel and more return unaged to Arcadia, Missouri. This miracle confuses and complicates the lives of those whom they touch. Secrets unravel along with psychological and emotional consequences. Mysteries, cold case and new crimes, plot twists, and cliffhanger hooks abound. How did the deceased get back to Arcadia? Are they dangerous?

Only My Opinion:
Resurrection’s concept is not new. Both the Old and New Testaments relate second chance stories with the most spectacular that of Christ. Its cast including Frances Fisher (Lucille Langston), Matt Craven (Fred Langston), Devin Kelley (Maggie Langston), Landon Gimmenez (Jacob Langston), Kerwood Smith (Henry Langston), Mark Hildreth (Pastor Hale), Samaire Armstrong (Elaine Richards), and Sam Hazeldine (Caleb Richards) is solid pro. What bothers me is that its story remains pointless, not spooky, with no real surprises. I keep wondering why, why, why… and how immigration agent J. Martin Bellamy fits into the puzzle.

Here’s the trailer for the first episode.

The Complete First Season of Resurrection includes eight episodes–Resurrection, Unearth, Two Rivers, Us Against the World, Insomnia, Home, Schemes of the Devil, and Torn (finale) plus bonus features Resurrection: Building a Mystery, On Location in Georgia, Bloopers, and Deleted Scenes. Available online and at retailers, this ABC Studios release has a 344 minute running time and a $29.99 SMRP.
