Prelude to Star Wars, Part 2

I feel like the Easter bunny hopping about.

Stop #4 Animal Kingdom. I grab a fast pass for the Kilimanjaro
Expedition where I see antelope, baboons, cheetahs, crocodiles,
elephants, flamingos, gazelles, giraffes, hippos, lions, okapis,
ostriches, warthogs, wildebeest, zebras roaming free. The safari
seems more natural and true to life than seeing animals in a zoo
penned up, caged. Next I follow the Pangani Forest Trail for a
walking tour of its aviary, meerkat, and gorilla. Then I move on to
the Maharaja Jungle Trek to see close up exotic birds, tigers, kimodo
dragon, and bats. Last stop for me is the Wildlife Express Train
across the savannah. Before exiting I marvel at the 14 story 50 foot
wide Tree of Life with its hundreds of carved animals.

Stop #5 Contemporary Theme Pool. I am on a quest. I must find a
topiary I missed in past travels through WDW. An employee helpfully
directs me to the new theme pool. I can’t swim–doctor’s orders as
well as no pool hopping allowed. The side trip is worth the detour
when Sorcerer Mickey.

Stop #6 Captain Cook’s at the Polynesian. I order Aloah pork,
Polynesian chips, apple strudel, and cappuccino, my dinner to go.

Stop #7 Grand Floridian. I pass the luau and decide it picnic along
the sandy beach. Construction of the new DVC near the wedding chapel
dominates the scene. Of course, I search for hidden Mickeys without
success. However, I am rewarded with a hidden topiary outside the
main entrance.

Stop #8 The Magic Kingdom. I am curious about how the projected half
billion dollar Fantasyland expansion is progressing. Old Toontown is
gone. Only the barnstormer coaster and one Dumbo are up. Recent
surgery and time constraints prohibit me going on favorites like
Splash Mountain, Big Thunder Mountain, and Space Mountain.

Stop #9 Hollywood Studios. The Sorcerer’s Apprentice beckons me to
come in but it is late and I need sleep. Tomorrow is another day AND
the beginning of Star Wars Weekend.

See tomorrow’s blog for more of
the story.
