Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade 2012

Bucket Lists – I never saw the need for one. I always knew what I wanted and worked to make it happen.

I wanted to be in New York City Times Square New Year’s Eve when the ball fell. I made it there in 1965. What amazed me was how within a minute after midnight Broadway and 42nd emptied.

I wanted to go to Disneyland when it opened. My father refused. Thirty-four years later independent me traveled there the first of many times.

I wanted to go to the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade from the time I started school. Something always came up until sixty-four years later my daughter made it happen.

I would like to share with you pictures of the giant novelty helium-filled balloons – no falloons or ballonicles though – that I got to take myself when my firstborn, my grandson and I traveled into the Big Apple Thanksgiving morning. It truly was the best of times. (Thank you, #1 and only daughter.)

Margaret Deland once said, “One must desire to be alive.” Hopes and expectations make things special. Everyone needs dreams. So dream on….
