For those of you who remember Tazewell’s classic The Littlest Angel, Anchor Bay Entertainment has CGI animated the tale of the lonely, homesick boy transformed into an angel. It shows how heaven portrayed much like any hometown USA is difficult for him. Everything is perfect for the other childlike angels who play and practice and have perfect days at the academy. He just doesn’t shape up. His many mishaps threaten to clip his wings.

He asks to go back to earth to retrieve his treasure box filled with a butterfly with golden wings,a sky blue bird’s egg, two white stones, and a leather collar. He succeeds with difficulty and the support of his pup Halo. He returns to heaven to find God is preparing for the birth of His Son Jesus Christ. ?Everyone will bring presents.

The littlest angel selflessly offers the treasure box, his most precious possession. He tries to take it back fearing it is too lowly and shabby. God thinks it is perfect and sends it down. People see it as the Star rising and glowing over the stable of Bethlehem.

Available November 15, 2011, on DVD, the SMRP of The Littlest Angel is $19.90. With a running time of 83 minutes, this G rated movie is solid children’s entertainment. Because of its length, for little ones with short attention spans, it may be adviseable to break up showing this into two or three segments, draw inferences, talk about what is happening, discuss what may happen next, and draw conclusions.

Art is reminiscent of Precious Moments figures. What great holiday fair on values served with lessons of faith, friendship, and doing right! For more information about The Littlest Angel go to www.thelittlestangelmovie.com.
