Teasplash with Tetley Tea

Tetley Teasplash

I am more a tea drinker than a coffee drinker. Old habits die hard.

I enjoyed tea parties since I was a toddler. When I visited old Mrs. Harley, she played piano for me singing Bonnie Banks O’Loch Lomond then made tea for me and read its leaves. When I stayed with my favorite Aunt Betty, she made me tea most evenings British style no milk but lemon with special sugar cubes. Once I treated the boys to afternoon High Tea at the Grand Floridian. Who am I kidding only myself? What boys’ sweet tooths want petite cucumber sandwiches when they can have pastries? Hubby added to the teatime tradition when he gifted me with musical teapot and a musical teacup.

Old Man Winter is back and I am brewing Tetley Tea by the potful. Not only is it healthier than other beverages, it is calorie friendly. I love its ZERO number as I use Splenda now. Still there are days when I get adventurous and want something different. My alternative to hot cocoa and hot apple cider is a Teasplash – combining either green or black decaffeinated tea with 100% fruit juice (pick your favorite but mine is lemon as in lemonade).

Here are two simple recipes both adults and kids can enjoy:

Green Apple Tea

  • 1 Tetley Decaffeinated Green Tea bag
  • 4 oz. of boiling water
  • 4 oz. 100% apple juice

Place the tag bag in an 8 oz. cup. Add boiling water and allow tea to steep for 3 minutes. Remove tea bag and add juice. Makes one 8 oz. serving.

Black & Blue Pom Pom Tea

  • 1 Tetley Decaffeinated Black Tea bag
  • 4 oz. of boiling water
  • 2 oz. Blueberry juice
  • 2 oz. Pomegranate juice

Place the tag bag in an 8 oz. cup. Add boiling water and allow tea to steep for 3 minutes. Remove tea bag and add juices. Makes one 8 oz. serving.
