Smart Love Of Learning – Win A SMART Board For The Best Teacher In Your World
There is an old adage, “As the twig is bent so grows the tree.” The best teacher in the world to me was my father. Far from a perfect man, nevertheless my dad gave me a love of learning, reading, and education. He taught me from a young girl on to listen, hold my own council, and be my own person equal to anyone and everyone in a world still dominated by men.
My father made me aware that the world was not always fair, and people often were not what they seemed. I saw people as human, beautiful but imperfect. In my quest for knowledge, the man showed me the difference between leader and follower. He taught me to think, search out facts, put them together, then go with my principals.
SMART Love of Learning shows that all kinds of people are teachers who show us we can do anything. Discovery comes about because they instill in us a love of learning. We learn when tough, fun, and fair people spur us on. It makes us metamorphose from tabula rosa to complex thinking human minds.
One of the advances in technology that helps make learning magical is a product created by SMART Technologies, the world’s largest provider of interactive whiteboards. The SMART Board is a “touch screen” board that functions like a blackboard does, but with the technical capabilities of a computer screen. If you’ve never seen a SMART board, I can tell you they are amazing. My grandson has one in his classroom. It’s helped him learn and enjoy learning, as well as interact with his classmates. As time goes by I think there will be more SMART Boards in classrooms. It would be so great if every classroom had one.
SMART is currently asking folks what person was, or is, the best teacher in the world? Readers can submit the name of the teacher that inspired them and gave them a passion for learning. The contest winner will receive a SMART Board for the school of their choice.
The Magical Classroom is possible because of compassionate teachers everywhere. Their involvement, questioning, theorizing, observation, and experimentation becomes the spark that ignites the search for knowledge. Ask me, “Who is, or was, the best teacher in the world?” My answer is the one who touches you, who works for you, who influences you is the best teacher in the world for you. Nature and nurture help along the way.
