San Diego — It’s Really Got Everything
San Diego County is a great travel destination. Its 4,526 square miles encompass coast, mountains, and desert so there is something to do for everyone. Its mild Mediterranean climate coupled with varied topography, make San Diego the perfect vacation choice. A big plus is that it is on an international border so Mexico’s Tijuana with its bullfights, jai ali, and shopping are only a day trip away.
San Diego is home to sixteen military facilities. The Coast Guard, Navy, and Marines are everywhere. The city itself sprawls out lazily with Little Italy being at its hub. The harbor, bay cruisers and the U. S. Carrier Midway are only a stone’s throw away. The area is a bustling place within walking distance to Old Town and its electric nightlife.
Tourists wanting to explore the region further away find the San Diego Transit system just outside the door. It has everything–buses, trains, freeways, ferries, even trolleys to get around. The beautiful Pacific beaches and the seasonal seals are must sees. Sea World, the San Diego Zoo, and Balboa Park are nearby popular tourist attractions. Visit Coronado’s Hotel del Coronado, the local set for Some Like It Hot perhaps the funniest movie ever.
Mount Soledad in the foothills has breathtaking vistas of the locale. Point Loma Lighthouse and the Cabrillo National Monument prove ideal vantage points for the entire harbor. Breathtaking! Go see for yourself.
