Stories and text books portray leaders, men like Washington, Lincoln, the Wright Brothers, Ford, Edison, Bell, Babe Ruth and Muhammad Ali but include few women. These male role models influenced everyone but like the saying goes, “We’ve come a long way, baby.” Girls, especially young girls in their formative years, need to know that women too achieve. My Name Is Not Isabella sends this message clearly yet gently.

My Name Is Not Isabella is a wonderful story of an imaginative Isabella who plays at being other people as she discovers herself. Astronaut Sally Ride, sharpshooter Annie Oakley, activist Rosa Parks, scientist Marie Curie, physician Elizabeth Blackwell, and Mommy helped change the world. Their examples inspire the little girl to be sweet, kind, smart, brave, fast, tough, great. She has time to grow to be whoever she wants to be.

  5. I always wanted to be an FBI agent. But then I realized there is an aspect of the job that could potentially keep me away from my family. So… God Bless all those who do their job well.

  6. I wanted to be a mom, a teacher, and an artist. I did end up teaching 8th grade for a while. I am a mom too…but only my children really enjoy my artwork. 🙂

  7. I don’t remember what I wanted to be… I remember people telling me what they thought I should be. (didn’t end up following their advice) I just knew I wanted to be a Mom at some point.
