Price Before You Buy
Readers know me as a practical, straight-forward shopper. I say I am frugal except at Christmas. Hubby says I am cheap. You know what they say – It takes one to know one. Oh, the stories I could tell but won’t today at least….
No matter what politicians and papers claim, the economy is terrible internationally and nationally. Who would have expected oil-rich Dubai to default on its loan payments? Who would have expected the national unemployment level to be crisis?
November 20, 2009, the United States Department of Labor released some information that concerns every American. That is scary stuff because those numbers do not include people who were no longer eligible for unemployment because time ran out for them.
Over the year, jobless rates increased in all 50 states and the District of Columbia. the national unemployment rate rose to 10.2 percent in October, up 0.4 percentage point from September and 3.6 points from October 2008.
Stores, restaurants, and attractions show it. Their parking lots show it. There is a lot of window shopping as customers await the right price. People everywhere are looking for cheap holiday gifts. Folks like me are surfing the web for the best buys and best deals. Sites like SHOP.com are helpful because they include various sources to buy from for each item, potentially saving some leg work for me.
“Research and compare” is my motto.
