Night at the Museum 2: Battle of the Smithsonian DVD Review

night at the museum battle of the smithsonian holiday gift pack cover

The movie Night at the Museum 2: Battle of the Smithsonian stars Ben Stiller, Amy Adams, Owen Wilson, Hank Azaria, Christopher Guest, Alain Chabat, Steve Coogan, Ricky Gervais, Bill Hader, Jon Bernthal, Patrick Gallagher, Jake Cherry, Mizuo Peck, Rami Malek, and Robin Williams.

This film comedy is set first in the New York Museum of Natural History then moves to the Washington D. C. mall and its National Air and Space Museum, National Gallery of Art, and Smithsonian Institution Building. Imagine what happens if, when night falls, Amewlia Erhart, Cowboy Jedidiah Smith, Kahmunrah, Ivan the terrible, Napoleon Bonaparte, Gaius Octavius, General Custer, Al Capon, Attila the Hun, Ahkmenrah, Sacagawea, Teddy Roosevelt, the Easter Island Head, the Cherubs, Oscar the Grouch, Darth Vader, and Joey Motorola come to life.

When a magic tablet brings them to life, the comedy begins. Larry Daley, no longer a night guard, is an entrepreneur of a fortune built on his glow-in-the-dark flashlight, unloseable keyring, and oversized dogbone. He returns to the New York museum to learn its exhibits are being sent to the national archives and are being replaced with holograms. He tries to stop the move but…. Get a laugh or two and see the movie yourself. It is loaded with special effects that make things happen.

Night at the Museum 2 won the 2009 Teen Choice Award as the best movie comedy of the year. That should count for something even though it had poor critic reviews. Hubby thoroughly enjoyed every minute. Me? I loved the scene with Rexy, a Tyrannasaurus skeleton, playing tug of war. I smiled at the giant octupus in the Reflecting Pool. Museum photography was great. I wish I could have seen it at an Imax viewing or bluray at least.

The DVD of Night at the Museum 2: Battle of the Smithsonian goes on sale December 1, 2009. If you like physical comedy, this movie is one for you.

Here’s more details about the movie.
