I wish I had known then what I do know now.

I have worked my whole life. Like most of us, I had to. That didn’t change because Mom lived in the house. There were still bills to pay, and all she had was a heart full of love.

We moved her in with us back in the early 80’s after she lost her leg to gangrene. Hubby, the kids, and I pulled together to do the best we could to make things work for everyone.

Each day before I left for work, I mentally went over my checklist of what had been done: bathe Mom, change bed linen, wash clothes, administer meds, give her breakfast, leave her a snack, put lunch in the frig. Eight hours later I was back shouting, “Mom, I’m home.” I was scared stiff when she didn’t answer immediately. Often she was alone as there was not enough for a full time health aide. What if? I don’t regret those ten years. It was the right thing to do. How I wish that she could have felt more secure and independent though!

Recently I learned about LifeFone and its 24/7 medical alert emergency response center. It has been around since 1976, but I just had not heard about it then. Its movable system requires a small in-home base and a medical alert bracelet or pendant which is waterproof and comes with a 100% lifetime warranty. Its wearer is covered up to 1,000 feet from the unit. He just touches the bracelet or pendant to signal a medical alarm.

Emergency care specialists monitor every situation. They have on file personalized profiles, critical information, and contacts. Their intervention can save time when even seconds save lives.

Just $29.00 per month can bring safety where it is needed. Go to LifeFone.com or call 1-888-691-8876 for more information on this and other of its UL Safety Standards approved products.

  1. My elderly neighboor, whom I clean house for, wears one of these necklaces around her neck. Her unit sits by her phone, next to her door. I can not tell you how impressed I am with the service she receives. She gets a live person right at her fingertips. So, if anything foes wrong, I know she is taken care of. I worry about her and her husband as they are very well up in their years, but help is just a button push away, and that is a priceless piece of mind.
