Kraft Velveeta Shells & Cheese Cups Review

Wednesday 6:00 A. M. our cross-country sojourn begins. Our first destination is Indianapolis approximately 600 miles away. We try to get some mileage in the initial day while everyone is fresh and excited.

The daily routine will be simple:
(1) Get up early and have quick breakfast, usually cereal.
(2) Have snacks and cold beverages in the cooler for the drive ahead.
(3) Stop, relax, and enjoy a big late lunch at a local restaurant not fast food. Replenish snacks and cold beverages.
(4) Drive again until dusk then check in at a reasonably priced motel, often a chain. Have a sandwich or something quick and easy in the room.

Recently Kraft sent me coupons for its NEW Velveeta Shells & Cheese. My local supermarket had them on sale this week at 10 for $10.00 so I grabbed some. I figured that the microwaveable bowls would be a good bet to take along on our upcoming cross-country trip. Why? My teenage grandson is traveling with us and he loves macaroni and cheese.

Convenient, needing no other ingredients, packed in its own bowl, it will be ideal when the day is done. I tested one out today. Ready in 3 1/2 minutes, it a little shy on the portion. With 2% milk cheese sauce and 1/2 the fat my selection was still tasty. Each package contains 180 calories, 31 grams carbohydrate, and 7 grams protein. Two other varieties are also available Original and Broccoli.

Personally I prefer Kraft’s boxed products more. With endlessly more cooking options, more food, and being more economical, I’ll opt for them at home. But, this is great until I am back in my own kitchen.
