Kids need playgrounds and Kool-aid wants to help get more up. That is why it is sponsoring KaBOOM program grants. KaBOOM is a non-profit organization whose goal is to facilitate having a playground for safe, unstructured play within walking distance of every child in America. From Sept. 19-27, communities across the United States will host KaBOOM Play Days – free, fun-for-the-whole-family events that focus on the important role play plays in a child?s life. Play Days are fun, free ways to get the kids outside and active. They?re also a great way to get a local park or playground some much-needed TLC. To support the cause, NFL PLAY 60 is offering Play Day communities $25,000 in grants to come together to improve their local parks and playspaces with clean-ups and simple enhancement and construction projects.
To help promote this, Moms were invited to New York City’s Studio 450. What a view on the top floor–in and out! The skyline and the Hudson River were awesome, but the inside was even more so. About two dozen moms and their children had gathered to celebrate kids play.
What a party it was! Hats, balloons, decorations, goodie bags set the fun mood. Cupcake arts and crafts, coloring, musical toys, balls, and games like Twister gave everyone something to do. Burgers, macaroni and cheese, pasta salad, cookies, ice cream cones, and Kool-Aid were the menu of the day. And the kids just loved it. Compliments to Shake Shack on the meal. The mini-feast picnic was sized perfect for tikes and toddlers.
I can’t decide what made me smile most. Being a proud mom myself, hearing my own little girl now a mother herself be interviewed on the radio, getting a professional picture taken of her, me, and the grand ones, or watching the Kool-aid Man bring smiles big as the one on his pitcher to the guests’ faces.
Thanks Beth from Role Mommy, for the invite. I had a great time. Thank you, KaBOOM, for caring so much.
