Don’t blame the computer
If I were an illegal immigrant, if I were a homeless vagrant, I would have less aggrevation and worry than I do as a born taxpaying resident of the U. S. A. when it comes to my medical coverage.
I am tired of insurance companies, both private and Medicare, blaming the computer for its problems and errors. Computers to not write the programs. Computers do not log the information. Computers do not process the claims. It’s PEOPLE who do .
Now that I have put these things forth for the record, I need to explain that for the last two hours I have been in an endless loop with my primary carrier Medicare. My problem is that too many insurance companies are responsible for my coverage.
Years ago I had an injury at work that is still an open claim. Although no bills whatsoever have ever been sent to the agency and it is still an open claim (because I am still being treated under WC), it denies coverage. I also had a car accident a while back that is another open claim. Same situation with bills going to auto insurance first (because I have not as yet been released). So what about other medical problems like cancer, diabetes, obesity?
Unless the billing office checks the box saying NO WC/AUTO (I must add that I write across the form noting this is not related to either) ,about half of the time the claim spins back with a refusal to pay.
Now what is so hard about reading? Perhaps if more people who are skilled in English and read, write, and speak in it as a primary language were employed then maybe, maybe problems like mine would not exist. How many companies are outsourcing their data out of the United States and into Third World countries. Check where the information is sent electronically– places and people in other worlds like India and the Caribbean.
