Cambria Suites, Plainfield, Indiana
The Cambria Suites Indianapolis Airport, 6014 Gateway Drive, Plainfield, Indiana 46168 was the only thing we really wanted to see after an all-day 750 mile drive. It is a new, modern building near many different restaurants and places to shop. We found it easily as it is near the Indianapolis Airport. We were immediately impressed with the exterior–well-lighted, well-groomed, outside seating, good parking.
The woman at the desk gave us a warm reception and found our reservations. She advised us that the Refresh Bar was open if we had forgotten or needed anything. She was genuinely helpful, answered our questions, and told us to ring her if there was any problem. There wasn’t. She then sent a DVD player up to the room. A concierge could not have done more.
Hubby went into the 24 hour business center with complimentary printers, computers, and internet access while I investigated the laundry, a necessity in my mind for light packers on long trips. We liked what we found. From there we walked to the resort style heated indoor pool and spa then on to the gym, truly state-of-art. Both were inviting. I check out the bistro inside while hubby went outside for a cigarette.? I was impressed with the cleanliness and order of everything.
We settled into our suite; it felt like home. As I kicked off my shoes to relax, the feel of the wall to wall carpeting was cushioned and soft to my toes. I noticed the windows were richly covered with stylized drapes, valances, and blinds.
Roman baths could not have been as luxurious as the one in our suite. It was gigantic and fully tiled. No tub just a double shower. No cabinetry but instead a long table with shelves for the thick white towels below and a vessel sink on it.
The living room was roomy and comfortable with contemporary black liquor furnishings and cherry accents. A wet bar complete with refrigerator and sink was in one corner. It looked like custom furniture. On it stood a microwave and a coffeemaker. Hubby turned on the flat-screen television for the weather, news, and some background noise.
As hubby was connecting the wi-fi service and the laptop, I heard, “Come here. Did you see this?” The management had left a beautiful welcome basket and note for me. ?I felt so welcome, so special. I don’t think I can ever properly express my appreciation. It was quite a surprise.
Hubby pulled out the queen-sized convertible sofa for our grandson. I marveled at the thickness of its mattress. I checked it out for comfort. It passed. By then hubby had put the luggage in the bedroom’s walk-in closet. I threw myself on the oversized king bed decorated with beige and black linens.
I turned on the flat-screen TV but didn’t get to see much. I was asleep before my head hit the pillow–many pillows actually. I awoke with a start. Hubby had bought me some cappuccino coffee from the Barista Bar…rich and creamy and a complimentary Wall Street Journal. What a treat to sleep in, have good coffee, and time to read in bed!
Eventually I peaked out the window. Rain, rain, go away. By noon, we headed out for lunch at nearby Hog Heaven. Then we did some sightseeing–the Indianapolis Speedway, the American Legion National Headquarters, and downtown Indy before dinner at Beef and Boards. The Zoo, Splash Island, O’Reilly Raceway Park, Lucas Oil Stadium, Conseco Fieldhouse, the State Museum, the Museum of Art, the Eileljorg Museum, and the Children’s Museum would have to wait for another time.
