A Miser Brothers’ Christmas is a spin off on The Year without Santa Claus. It features Mickey Rooney as Santa Claus, George S. irving as Heat Miser, Juan Chioran as Snow Miser, Shirley Booth as Mrs. Claus, and Brad Adamson as the malevolent, sycophantic North Wind.

What if Santa couldn’t drive his sleigh? When Mother Nature tells the North Wind that he would have to deliver the toys, the North Wind decides to sabotage Santa’s super sleigh. He injures Santa in the attempt. Mother Nature changes her mind and assigns the task of bringing the presents to good girls and boys to the still feuding Miser Brothers, Heat Miser and Snow Miser.

The Miser Brothers don’t do very well because they have been bickering since infancy. That is why they have always been on Santa Claus’s naughty list. With a little help from Mrs. Claus, they stop squabbling and things get better until…. That is about the time that the North Wind tricks them into thinking they are double crossing one another, and mishaps start again.

I won’t tell the whole story about how the Miser Brothers save Santa and earn a place on the nice list. The plot of the story is simple enough–kids should understand it is to work together instead of being out for oneself.

The story begins when Santa’s new chief mechanic, Tinsel, creates a speedy, new high tech sleigh for Christmas. But what Santa doesn’t know is that North Wind has secretly sabotaged the sleigh in the hope of taking Santa’s place that year. When Santa takes it out for a spin, he gets caught in the cross fire between the feuding Snow Miser and Heat Miser Brothers and his sleigh comes crashing down. North Wind frames the Miser Brothers for Santa’s accident and, with Santa stuck in bed with a bad back, everything falls into place for North Wind to slyly come to the rescue as a temporary Santa. But much to his chagrin, Mother Nature punishes the Miser Brothers by forcing them to put their differences aside and fill in for Santa. In between comedic squabbles, the Brothers rediscover what it means to be family and, along the way, save Christmas for everyone!
