This Critic’s Review:
Most of us are familiar with the 1939 movie The Wizard of Oz. The U. S. Library of Congress declares it. “America’s greatest and best-loved homegrown fairytale.” Many consider it America’s first fairy tale. Unlike Grimm and Andersen, its dark moments are few. Baum’s themes of love, kindness, and unselfishness make for an inspirational heroine and a good clean reading fun novel.
