It doesn’t seem that long ago that Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs came out of the Disney vault (see 10/9/2009 blog). Well, it is out again in the new Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs: ┬áThe Signature Collection (release date February 2, 2016). Listed on the National Film Register, it is the first animated sound picture and the best animated movie ever. No wonder is it that Disney’s first princess has her own star on the Hollywood walk of Fame?

Story Summary:
An evil stepmother AKA Evil Queen jealous of Snow White orders her huntsman to kill the girl. Because she is good, the huntsman lets her escape into the forest. Snow White finds her way to safety in the cottage of seven dwarfs–Doc, Grumpy, Happy, Sleepy, Bashful, Sneezy, and Dopey. Too bad vain Evil Queen asks her magic mirror, “Who is the fairest in the land?” because its answers Snow White is again in danger. Disguised as Old Hag, Evil Queen tricks Snow White to bite a poisoned apple causing her sleeping death. Her Prince finds her and awakens her with a kiss. Evil Queen dies. Prince and Snow White return to the castle and so the story ends happily ever after.

New Signature Snow White (run time 83 minutes) is similar to Diamond Snow White in quality. Furthermore, while it retains many of the last releases features, it also includes new bonuses like the Oswald the Rabbit short “Hungry Hobos”. Extras include:

My Opinion Only:
With fond memories Snow White and her wishing well at the Disneyland Grotto, an original cell of Snow White and her Prince over my desk, and an Oswald Rabbit print over hubby’s, Signature Disney Snow White (SMRP $36.99) brings on old memories of Disney times as well as new ones.
