Q: What do Carl Zeiss’s innovations in sports optics, medical solutions, industrial metrology, microscopes, and cameras have in common with the human eye?
A. They ALL involve optical lenses, sight and vision.
Oh, to be young again! I remember back in the day. No need for reading, bifocals, and/or progressives back then. I was blessed with 20/20 vision. Then somewhere after 40, things changed slowly. Simply put–with aging my vision deteriorated.
In my own search for a good eye doctor, I chose an ophthalmologist over an optometrist or optician. Why? Being eye surgeons, they can do whatever is necessary including prescribing medications. I used to be able to read fine print on the back of labels when I was younger.. now I get aggravated when I have to pass the bottle over to the kids to read it for me. I do have eye glasses, but only have the prescription for when I am driving for far away things, like street signs. I did learn a few tips on climbing stairs when you wear progressive lenses from Zeiss website, I have tried them in the past, next time I go in for my check up I think I will give the progressive lenses another shot.

I’m way past due for my eye exam and I’m at that age where my eyes are undergoing those undesired changes. The time I spend reading on the computer seems to have had more of a detrimental effect than I would have thought – it’s now near impossible for me to read for any length of time in a real book. Your article was very informative for me!
