Superstar Kristi Yamaguchi was not born a superstar. Family, friends, encouragement, hard work and persistence inspired her to “Always Dream”. This is a positive message that everyone young and old should believe.

In the hardcover children’s picture book illustrated by Tim Bowers, her character young Poppy wants to be a star. (Don’t we all?) She fails as a ballerina – too clumsy. She fails as a singer – off-key. She fails as a model–no poise. her family and friends stand behind her. Their advice “Follow your dreams,” “You go, girl,” and “Dream big, pig” is the best. Poppy keeps on dreaming. Then she discovers ice skating. Its magic and pizzazz make her dreams come true. Best thing is that she doesn’t stop there, she sets her sights on new dreams. What a great lesson!

Little ones four to eight will love this story whether reading it on their own or having it read to them. Success is the other side of failure and they need to learn for themselves that every success comes out of trial and error. Author Yamaguchi’s sage advice, “When things get in the way, keep trying, ” is gold like her.

Dream Big Little Pig (ISBN 13:978-1-4022-5275-4) is age appropriate, entertaining children’s fiction. Its 32 pages are sure to inspire kids to believe in themselves. It can be found online and in book stores including Barnes and Noble.

    I’d read this to all three of my children, olivia 5 would love it, thomas 3 would listen and zander almost one probs wouldn’t care but I’d read it to him anyway.
