The Inn at Woodstock Hill, Woodstock, Connecticut

Until just a few weeks ago, I had never stayed in a bed and breakfast. i wasn’t sure I even liked the idea of one at all. Was I wrong! Recently I was booked at The Inn at Woodstock Hill for an overnight. The Inn is located at the junction of Rt. 169 and Plaine Hill Road, at 94 Plaine Hill Road, Woodstock, Connecticut 06281-2912. I hope to go back again someday to this inn set in the Quiet Corner of Connecticut.

The Woodstock Inn is on the National Register of Historical Places, in an area designated a historical district, timelessly beautiful and serene. William Bowen, a direct descendant of Goer Henry Bowen who settled Woodstock in 1686, had the original house built for him in 1816. The inn, now a 21 guest room, property boasts amenities like private baths, televisions, radios, wireless internet access, and air conditioning in every tastefully and individually decorated room. Times have changed but certainly not Woodstock’s charm.

The staff is accommodating. As the manager promised when I had a problem, “We will make it work.” AND he really did.

Food and service are exceptional. Meals can best be described as fine dining. When the chef customized the menu and cooking for my own personal dietary needs, I savored crab cake, mashed potatoes and veggie plate. Hubby, a picky diner-outer, raved about his dinner. I dared ask my server to go back in the kitchen and request the recipe for leek soup.

Early the next morning, I ventured downstairs again for a complimentary true continental-plus breakfast. Eggs, cold cuts, cheese, a variety of breads, fresh baked goods, seasonal fruits, cereals, juices, cocoa, coffee, teas and more delighted the eye, the nose, and for sure my stomach. I was positive that I was in another world perhaps heaven.

All accommodations are non-smoking. Rates for rooms are based on double occupancy and vary seasonally. For more information or for reservations, go to innwood@gmail.com or telephone 860-928-0528. As a B&B it is a Zagat’s Guide listing, AAA-rated, Connecticut Magazine Reader’s Choice winner. In my opinion, guests that stay at The Inn At Woodstock Hill just can’t go wrong .

My stay at this hotel was complimentary and was provided free of cost to me for the sole purpose of product testing and review. This review has not been monetarily compensated and is based on the views and opinions of my family and/or self.
