On May 15, 2009, I posted a review of the Senseo single serve coffee maker. Except for the occasions where I brewed a big pot for guests, I used it daily until my doctor advised me to cut caffeine. About then I noticed when I plugged it in, that water spilled on to the counter. Naturally hubby blamed me for doing something wrong so technologically impaired me just shrugged. So I put it to the back of the counter and had, since the weather was warm, cold drinks and when I entertained used my big pot.
I recently discovered that Senseo has a voluntary recall on its products made in Poland and China from July, 2006 through November 2008.
If you own a Senseo product I suggest you get the information from its tag (kind, location and date of manufacture) and contact Philips Consumer Care at 1-866-604-0051 immediately to see if your coffeemaker is eligible for the recall. Their site states that currently the product type-numbers affected are HD7810, HD7820 and HD7832.
I await instructions from the company authorizing product return. For more information, go to the Senseo recall page. Better to be safe than sorry.

I remember when this was published by them last year and I went rushing out to my machine — that I have used routinely since I got it in 2006 — hoping mine was on the recall list, not because I had problems with it, as I never had a single issue, but because I was thinking a new machine might be useful given mine has been used so much! But alas, I had one of the product-type numbers identified and made in China, but at later examination it was NOT one of the recalled units! A year later, I routinely wonder if I should retire my well used baby for a new-improved model…. hmmmm.
