ER Season 12

Available on DVD: January 12, 2010

Synopsis: Look who’s checked in at County General: Dr. Victor Clemente arrives with a motor mouth, a load of talent and a questionable past. Imposing, no-nonsense Eve Spellman takes charge (and almost takes over) as the new nurse manager. And hunky paramedic Tony Gates proves he’s more than a guy on the make. Season 12 also brings spiraling drama and suspense to the lives of ER veterans. Abby and Kovac share unexpected news. Gallant comes home from Iraq to be with Neela. Pratt goes to Darfur to work with Carter. And burn victims, stabbing victims, gunshot victims, assault victims – young and old, male and female, grateful and combative – keep the ER on edge. And sometimes over the edge…

From 1994 through 2009, the series ER was a winner. 124 Emmy nominations and 23 Emmy wins along with many other awards including People’s Choice, Golden Globe, and Screen Actors Guild made it the longest running medical drama ever. With an average of 12.3 million viewers per episode, it ranks as #30 in all time favorites.

On January 10, 2010, ER, Season 12 was released on DVD with Seasons 13-15 coming later. The running time for the 22 episodes is 1,012 minutes with a list price of $49.98. Over the years, as regular cast members departed, others signed on. The current ones include Goran Visnic, Maura Tierney, Mekhi Phifer, Parminder Magra, and Linda Cardinelli. Certain episodes feature celebrity guest stars.

Here is my recap of the season:

Relationship changes when Sam and Luka Kovac find runaway Alex and take him to meet his father. With their breakup, problems erupt and they find they cannot work together. Luka turns to Abby for a little TLC. Eve makes things difficult. Dr. Victor Clemente alienates the staff.

No pun intended, there is monkey business going on. Eve involves Sam in firing Haleah. Dubenko disagrees with ER and ICU. Neela marries Michael Gallant before his return to Iraq. Clemente and Luka compete until Abby teaches the pair a lesson. As Luka and Abby celebrate his appointment as Chief of Emergency Medicine, they decide to be more than just friends.

Eve gets fired. Sam and Alex visit jailed Steve. Abby and Luka face what they want to do about her pregnancy. Luka and a drug involved Dr. Clemente argue. Air crash victims fill the trauma room. Sam recalls Haleah. The staff must decide how AL patient Dr. Nate Lennod wants to be treated. Clemente’s involvement in a domestic dispute takes a victim.

Carter returns from Darfur and enlists Pratt. Their trip to Africa is a dangerous one with serious consequences. A patient’s tempting offer lets Sam enjoy the perks. Clemente becomes more erratic. The season closes in a cliffhanger. Two prisoners and a hidden conspirator fire shots. Jerry, Abby and Luka are injured; Sam is missing.

After getting myself involved, I can hardly wait until ER, Season 13 is released on DVD to see who lives and who dies and how things work out.

Oh my goodness. I loved ER back in the days when we had TV reception. The first I remember of George Clooney and so many others. Three of the faces look familiar on this cover. Hey, not too bad. lol

    Dear Marj,
I enjoyed ER most when Clooney and Margulies paired off. Who would have thought he would become a superstar?
