For thirty-five years I got paid every two weeks. Now I get a check once a month. It just takes some planning and organization. I have always paid the bills first. Then I budget whatever is left to cover my recurring cash expenses–gasoline, food, whatever. I never gave myself a salary or an allowance. It just wasn’t my way. However, what I did do was buy my groceries on sale and double up with manufacturers’ coupons. Any savings there was my spending money. I got my reading books from the public library, baked cakes and cookies, mended clothes and sewed buttons. When skin problems erupted, I watched my diet, washed frequently, and applid rubbing alcohol - natural acne remedies. Common sense and being frugal kept me out of the red.
