Breyers Smooth & Dreamy Ice Cream – With Giveaway

I loved city life in the early 40′s–parades, the 5 & 10, penny candy, cutouts, comic books, and ice cream parlors. One scoop, two scoops, up to my record five scoops usually chocolate, sometimes cherry vanilla, mostly with sprinkles, sugar-cone preferred I never got enough ice cream–mostly Breyers.

Now that I’ve moved to the suburbs, ice cream stores are further away so I have to rely on my freezer for my daily fix. I have been buying wiser now and avoiding artificial flavors and colors, fats, and sugar. When I received a coupon to try Breyers Smooth & Dreamy Extra Creamy, I was already well familiar with the product. I had purchased several half gallons a few weeks earlier and enjoyed them immensely as did hubby. I also had bought myself a box of the single serve vanilla fudge brownies–convenient, portion controlled, tasty decadence.

Off to the supermarket and six varieties in stock, I ventured into tried and true Chocolate Chocolate Chip. I have to admit that I couldn’t control myself and after checking out unwrapped one of the six bars in the package I bought. It was the best: 130 calories, 17 grams carbs, 2 grams protein, 6 grams fat. In record breaking heat it was perfect.

Later at home, as I was unloading groceries, an ice cream truck passed by. I smiled and thought, “One bar from the truck usually costs as much as the tag on the whole box plus there are five left for another day….” Chocolate Caramel Brownie, Vanilla Caramel Chip, Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough, Chocolate Covered Strawberry, Vanilla Fudge Brownie, and Chocolate Chocolate Chip…wonder which I will get next….
