Book description – My Purple Toes is a creative children’s board book written for children between the ages of one and five that tells a story about a father’s experience navigating life with purple painted toenails. From mom to the kids to their dog, everyone reacts differently to dad’s purple toes showing their surprise, embarrassment, and even laughter.
Throughout the book, children can look for dad’s toes in various environments and also find a friendly frog with purple toes that hides on each page. In addition to entertaining, “My Purple Toes” teaches a simple, yet relevant lesson about the importance of acceptance, enjoying life and being different.
I just finished reading “My Purple Toes” by Blair Hahn. I plan on reading it with my granddaughter NV next time she visits.
My Purple Toes is a great board book, ideal for children aged one through five. The illustrations by Tate Nation are bright and colorful. The simple words tell a light-hearted tale of what happens when a dad joins his teen daughter for a pedicure. Surprise, embarrassment, and laughter are part of the story as wife, son, daughter, and family dog all
react.
My Purple Toes helps little ones learn; it’s interactive. Toddlers can search to find the hidden purple frogs on every page, practice counting from 1-10, and more while they learn lessons on being true to one self, differences, and acceptance. It can be ordered online at www.mypurpletoes.com for $10.99.
I smiled as I finished the last page and read the back cover again. Did you realize that 300,000,000+ children around the world never owned shoes? Proceeds from this book benefit Soles4Souls. Its goal is to “Change the world, one pair at a time.” This charity collects new and gently worn shoes from manufacturers, retailers, and the
public and distributes them to children in need. For more information, visit www.giveshoes.org on the internet.
