Since I had surgery a year ago, meals have been different for hubby and me. No way about it, we just don’t eat the same. Hubby has his beef and pasta. I have my fish, soup, and cheese. Bulk food purchasing gone, shopping means small sizes (my picky man hates leftovers), repackaging meats if necessary to individual portions.
Since it was the end of the month and the freezer was getting low, I rushed off this morning to pickup the Angel Food Ministries (see previous reviews) package I ordered weeks ago online. I’ve been buying its packages since the beginning of 2009…haven’t missed a month yet. The food is good quality. The packaging is the best. It helps stretch my spending dollar in a bad economy.
The Signature box, my regular order (cost $30) included 1.5 lb. sirloin steak (4 x 6 oz.), 2 lb. 2 lb. mac and beef dinner entrée, 1 lb. IQF chicken breast (boneless skinless), 1 lb. lean ground beef, 1 lb. chicken breast fajita strips,1.5 lb. breaded crunchy fish bites (32 ct.), 2 lb. 1 lb. smoked chicken sausage, 1 lb. 25 oz. heat and serve green beans, 1 lb. fajita blend (onions, red and green pepper strips).
As I left, the workers gave me a Blessings Box to share with someone less fortunate. I accepted thinking how much it would mean to people out of work and out of unemployment. I was not under any pressure. No one asked me to pray, but it was there for me if I so chose.
I appreciate the service these people are doing. Volunteerism can be a thankless no-pay situation. I think these people are doing something for the community. Times may be tough, but you are a help in times of need. I want to say sincerely to each and every one of you, “Thank you. America needs more people like you.”
