Back in March I wrote an article promoting the 44th Pillsbury Bake-Off Contest. Well, the judges have selected their 20 picks from the 100 finalists competing for the $1,000,000 grand prize. Now they want you, the public, to help them pick the top winner.
Here’s how you do this: First, watch this brief video from Jann Atkins, Bake-Off Kitchens’ Assistant Manager. It will give you some tips about how to evaluate recipes.
Next, register as a member of www.pillsbury.com. Last, cast your ballot. Visit www.bakeoff.com for official rules.
Pillsbury split its semi-finalists into ten pairs. Every two weeks (namely, May 14, May 28, June 11, June 25, July 9, July 23, August 6, August 20, September 3 and September 17, 2009), Pillsbury will post one of these pairs of recipes and have members vote which is their personal favorite. Voting closes at 11:59 A. M. CST fourteen days after each posting. The one with the most votes will proceed to the final competition, held April 11-13, 2010 in Orlando, Florida.
I’ve always loved the Pillsbury Doughboy. In 1965 Poppin’ Fresh appeared on the scene as the Pillsbury mascot. It remains today as an advertising icon for more than fifty of the company’s products. I always wanted my own Doughboy so I was really happy when Pillsbury sent me one of my own. He’s cute and cuddly, complete with scarf, chef’s hat, big blue eyes, and cheeks that blush. He even warmly chuckles, “Ooh ooh”.

WIN IT!
Two winners will receive prize packs featuring a magazine of past Bake-Off recipes and a Pillsbury Doughboy giggle doll.

My favorite item is the Pillsbury Cinnamon rolls.
Our kitchen is done in Pillsbury Dough boy blue and has doughboy items everywhere. I’d love to win this to add to my hubby’s collection. He’s a chef and a doughboy fanatic!

I like their flour. We have to make everything from scratch at our house.

Denise,
When I got my first house, I did almost everything from scratch–cheaper and often better. However, I stopped baking when I used baking soda for baking powder and even the dog wouldn’t eat it. Live and learn.

Maureen,
Never saw them in supermarkets. Cornbrad is a toough sell–too oftn dry, meally, and tasteless, it’s hard to find sweet, tasty, yummy ones. I know they exist as a restuaramt I stop at on my travels bakes them and puts them on the menu.
