I used to love toy shopping. That was when everything came out of the box ready to use. With assembly now necessary and even detailing, there is not much joy in a young one’s opening the box only to find a million pieces…. In my day, I never listed a puzzle on my wish list. Maybe that is part of the problem that moves today’s generation away from toys and into flicking fingers.
I grew up pre-Barbie with its blush of innocent childhood. I loved dolls and doll clothes. I loved changing my baby all the time. Barbie never excited me; she was real old in my mind, independent and on her own. Hers was the adult world where people didn’t play. I preferred my own world where kids play and have fun. So I stayed away from buying them for my daughter and later granddaughter.

Recently when I came upon a doll I would have loved. Her name is Lily Rose and she is an Only Hearts Club doll made by OHC Group LLC. She looks like a real girl with long straight strawberry blonde hair and bangs. Dressed in a ruffled pink skirt, boots, and rose hoodie, she has a soft, fully-poseable body. She retails for $16.00 and is marketed for ages 3 and up.
In a swimsuit, Lily Rose is ready for the beach or pool. When she isn’t cuddling her foal Bitsy, she rides her horse Missy at the stable. Into music, she plays in a band and dances in a ballet studio. She loves animals and has lots of pets (cats, dogs, monkeys, pigs, even frogs). She has sleepovers. She has dreams. Best of all she has playmate friends including Taylor Angelique, Olivia Hope, Brianna Joy, Katrina Grace, and Anna Sophia.
If I needed to buy something for a little girl, I would buy this doll. Besides being affordable to the pocketbook, the doll is wholesome and real, just what I would like a girl to be. As there is room for add-ons, the doll’s possibilities are limited only by imagination. Girls can join the Only Hearts Club Lily by visiting www.OnlyHeartsClub.com to sign up for the official club kit. Only Hearts Club also has a series of books tied in to the dolls. These exciting stories retailing at $4.00. The best thing about each one is it message: Listen to your heart and try to do the right thing.

We would love to win the Olivia Hope – My daughter Skye loves horses and is dying to ride one. She is a tiny 4 year old and I am not ready to put her on one but owning a horse was my dream as a little girl too. I collected horses figurines and love that she doesn’t even know that about me but loves them too.

Lily Rose® ~ and I went strickly on the cute-ness factor. I hesitated because I really thought they were all adorable. I think only that they could have slightly altered the faces as well as the hair coloring and such — making each of them just a little more “unique”.

Fireworks tonight were the best in about 45 years. We went into the city and could see all the towns shooting theirs from the parking garage roof. Spectacular.

Pat,
I agree with what you’re saying but what I meant was that Anna Sophia’s coloring most mirrored our family’s and that’s why we’d prefer to have that doll. Believe me, I grew up playing with a lot of blond dolls and I loved those, too, but it’s nice to see a doll once in a while that has more of a Latin look.
