GIFT IDEA -OLIVE OIL DESSERTS BY MICKI SANNAR

About Olive Oil Desserts by Micki Sannar

Surprise and intrigue your family and friends this holiday season with a healthy new twist on some family favorites. My sweet and savory dessert recipes use only heart healthy olive oil in the place the unhealthy fat, most always found in their favorite desserts. Olive oil is FDA approved and medically proven to improve cardiovascular health. Best yet, the taste is so divine, and the texture so familiar, your family will never know the dessert they just enjoyed was actually good for them – unless you tell them! This may be one family secret worth sharing.

When you first look at the book Olive Oil Desserts, you will find yourself saying, “Yes, this cookbook has a great intro, great substitution charts, and a great glossary BUT do the recipes taste great?” That is the big question. The bigger answer is yes.

Mikki Kannar has come up with over sixty healthy and delicious dessert recipes. Every one I tried was sweet and savory. No butter, shortening, margarine, or hydrogenated oil whatsoever was used, only olive oil, the Mediterranean staple.

Chapter on cake:
I loved the flourless chocolate lava lava cake. Its instructions were simple to follow. Little prep time. Easy clean up. The results equaled the gourmet flourless chocolate torte served at the Brown Derby.

Chapter on cookies and bars:
The results for toll cookies, crispy rice treats, and brownie recipes equal the best bakery ones.

Chapter on muffins and sweetbreads:
The banana bread and the blueberry muffins rival past success.

Chapter on pies and crisps:
Not tried yet as I hate to make the pastry crust. Next apple pie though, I start here.

Hippocrates recommended olive oil. For the greater good so do I.
