GIFT IDEA -EXPO DRY ERASE PRODUCTS
It is the thought that counts whatever the gift. I stay away from candies, candles perfume, and ties for the most part. I like to find presents that are distinctive and different as opposed to what everyone else is buying.
Buying things for friends is easy; you know them, their likes, their habits. Purchasing for children is even easier; they tell everyone exactly what they want. Spending on the family is the ultimate easiest; you know exactly what they have and have not. The problem lies with courtesy gifts for those whose lives you touch out of the home, in work, at play, and elsewhere.
Every year my daughter and I discuss possibilities for the deliverymen, the bus drivers, the school teachers. I do not do either money or gift cards–too quantifiable with no meaning, thought or effort. Gloves often perhaps because they are so often lost. Candles and stationery maybe since they are personal but not intimate. Writing products, now that is something for everyone. That is my plan for 2009.
I admit I would never have considered it had not Stanford sent me some Expo Dry Erase Markers to review.
About Expo
At Expo, we are committed not simply to creating a new approach to writing, but to creating a new approach to communication. We understand that effective communication is dictated not just by what you say, but how you say it. We also believe in the power of consumer insight, our greatest asset. Gaining knowledge from studying people in their every day environment drives everything from new product development – creating products with relevant benefits to users – to merchandising and marketing. With this in mind, we’ve designed our writing systems with as much focus on great design and intuitive functionality as we have great form. This is why both the contemporary designs and colors of our products fit people’s daily surroundings so well, and why our products are made to integrate all types of information like important documents and photos. The end result is producing products that are as expressive as the people who use them. Whether using dry erase to learn, work, live, or play, Expo easily delivers the messages that matter most.
The dry erase markers set me thinking. That particular company grew into the largest writing product manufacturer in the world because everyone has to write. Going with that idea, I considered pens (too expensive for the good ones and too cheesy for the bad). Next I considered pencils but no one uses them anymore since companies started selling erasable pens. I took the easy way out, markers after trying the various ones I received to review:
- Expo Dry Erase Marker Set #81045, Chisel Tip 16 Pack Assorted Colors ($24.89 retail)
- Expo Click Retractable Low Odor Fine Dry Erase Markers, #1751667 Fashioned Colored Pack of 6 ($14.22 retail)
- Expo Vis-a-Vis Wet Erase Transparency Pens #16078, Fine Point, 8 Colors, 8 per Set ($12.42 retail)
- Expo Microfiber Cleaning Cloth ($4.99 retail)
All of Expo markers I used have vivid ink colors, nothing dull or common place. Eco-friendly, they can be used on the same whiteboard, glass, or non-porous surface over and over. Apply the cleaning cloth and it’s off with the old and on with the new. No dust with inks so no allergy problems like a slate board either.
Expo products can be found online at at office suppliers, stationary stores, and major retailers including Target. They make a great idea for coworkers, teachers, coaches and parents alike. I’m coupling them with erasable calendars and laminated goods. What a difference things are in color! Now no one will be able to find an excuse not to write. Right?
WIN IT!
One winner will receive a gift pack of Expo products.

I guess we’re getting to the point where we need to have a color coded calendar on the fridge, one color for each of us. Between church stuff, husband’s work stuff, and my son’s multiple dr. appointments, our schedule is getting pretty busy these days.

I think they would be great for color coding each member of the family. I do that now, but with plain old blue, red, black & green. These markers are bright and cheery, each person can pick their own bright color. I love the color choices! Great colorful giveaway, thanks.

We used to be color coded. Each person had a color … and now the only dry erase marker I can find is brown. It would be wonderful to put a green message up and know that it would catch my daughters eye again. My husband is red, son is blue and any notes to me are simply left on my keyboard where I never miss them.
So yes, we would be better organized

We use dry erase to leave notes written right on the fridge! It works great & the kids love it since it is kinda like writting on the walls, but without the yelling afterwards!
on Dec 30th, 2009 at 2:17 am
Because it’s an 85 mile drive from home to Costco, Target, etc. we need to keep lists for shopping at different places when we go to the big town! We keep a dry erase board for this and Expo markers in different colors would be perfect!! We also need to initiate a common calendar where we can both write appointments, etc. so we can keep track of what each other had going on. They would work for that, too!
