I have never made espresso before although I played house with my aunt’s special espresso pot while I was supposed to be napping a lot. So when I was offered the opportunity to try Cafe Bustelo I just had to accept. I received a special gift basket filled with an espresso pot, tiny cups and saucers. I searched out the demitasse spoons that had been handed down to me, googled espresso making, then began. I was surprised at what I learned.
I have always thought of Cafe Bustelo as a cheap Hispanic coffee favored for more its cultural tradition than its taste. It even has bilingual messages on its coffee cans. A rich dark color and an intense taste best describe it made as espresso. Laced with lots of cream and sugar, I must admit I like its taste. Cafe Bustelo can best be described in two words–potent and inexpensive.
Espresso coffee is not a bean; it is a way to make coffee in a special pot that forces water under pressure down through finely ground coffee. The result is a concentrated beverage with a thicker consistency than regular coffee house brews and an intense taste all of its own. Once made espresso coffee is the base for many coffee drinks from the Italian cappuccino to the New Orleans latte–hot, iced, or as a smoothie.
I have been starting each day with a hot cup then putting the rest aside for cold ones later in the day. My can of Cafe Bustelo is lasting quite well, but when it is finished I will buy another. Cafe Bustelo products include regular and decaf, whole beans and grind, pods, instant, specialty, and even ice tea.
Like it says on my new coffee cups, I love Cafe Bustelo. Hope you will as well.
With espresso gift baskets ranging in price from $29.99 to $74.99 there’s something to fit your budget that the coffee lover in your life will enjoy.
