It is great to wake up here in Binoculars Country. I decide to let hubby get some extra zzzz and head downstairs to breakfast. I grab a cookie as I pass the front desk. They are addictive. I look out the window and see a big flock of big Canadians on the lawn. Naturally I want to snap their picture; however, they fly away while I am fumbling for the camera.
I head into the dining room and take a seat. I pour myself some oj before selecting my bacon and eggs no toast from a good selection of staples like fresh fruit, french toast, bagels, danish, muffins, and hot and cold cereals. Next I make hubby a stack of waffles. Hubby is truly a great guy and deserves the room service.
I return to our suite to bring him breakfast in bed but he is already up. Hubby is mumbling under his breath something about what happens when one marries an English teacher. I know he is talking about me. Our plans for the day include Elmira College’s Mark Twain Study moved in 1952 from Quarry Farm and a search for his gravestone in Woodlawn Cemetery. (It’s mark two big in riverboat terms).
After we stop at Friendly’s for lunch and check out Sprinklevision, I check out the local Lane Bryant, Kohl’s, and Superwalmart for bathing suits. My old ones are dripping off so I need something smaller, much smaller like 16-18 vs. 26-28. It’s tough going as swim season is over a, replaced by racks filled with fall and winter clothing. Hubby leaves for Simmons-Rockwell where we bought our new car earlier this summer. Naturally he has to order something for it. I know he tells everyone within hearing how I am a compulsive shopper. People who live in glass houses should really not throw stones. He returns late with the explanation he knew I needed more time.
Back to the Country Inns and Suites, we sup together before I leave for Arnot Mall. When I return, hubby surprises me with a video he took of an animal he spotted from ooour window. I don’t surprise him with the half dozen tops I bought. The word CLEARANCE always makes him grab for his wallet. Hubby is using the compluter so I look through some bochures, call my kids to chat, then turn the TV channel to CSI. It’s like being home here only better–I have maid, trash and towel service. I am really on a vacation.

I was an English major and constantly torture my loved ones with trips like that! Glad you are enjoying a little R & R! Mmmm, waffles!

Julie,
I love the region–especially its local farmmafrkets like the Windmill.
