Burbank, Calif., July 14, 2009 – Family bonds bend, but never break, for five dissimilar siblings in Brothers & Sisters: The Complete Third Season, coming to DVD on September 1, 2009 from Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment. The six-disc DVD includes every episode from the third season of the acclaimed ABC television series, plus exclusive cast interviews, deleted scenes and much, much more.
The Walkers are everything anyone could ask from a family—and a few things no one would want. The Complete Third Season of this compelling one-hour drama continues to follow the sprawling California-based clan as they face the complications of contemporary American life. Passionately devoted mother Nora Walker (Sally Field), her grown children and their loved ones contend with romance, parenting, divorce, infidelity, addiction, war and even death.
Brothers & Sisters: The Complete Third Season stars two-time Oscar® winner Sally Field (Best Actress for Norma Rae, 1979 and Places of the Heart, 1984)—who won a 2007 Lead Actress Emmy® for her Brothers & Sisters role as family matriarch Nora Walker—Rachel Griffiths (“Six Feet Under), Rob Lowe (“The West Wing”), Calista Flockhart (“Ally McBeal”), Balthazar Getty (“Alias”), Dave Annable (“Reunion”), Luke Macfarlane (“Over There”), Sarah Jane Morris (Seven Pounds), Matthew Rhys (The Edge of Love), Ron Rifkin (“Alias”), Emily VanCamp and Patricia Wettig (“Prison Break”).
Bonus Features
- Bloopers
- Deleted Scenes
- The Mothers of Brothers & Sisters — The cast of Brothers & Sisters discuss the amazing role mothers play in their lives.
- The Ojai Experience — This intriguing featurette takes viewers on a tour of a real-life family winery in Ojai, California with members of the Brothers & Sisters cast and offers a taste of the truth and the fiction behind running a family wine business.
- In-Between Scenes — A behind-the-scenes look at the on-set high jinks that kept the Brothers & Sisters ensemble on their toes—and laughing—during the shooting of Season Three.
Brothers and Sisters, which airs on ABC Sundays at 10:00 P. M. (EST) recently released its Season 3 to DVD on September 1, 2009. Running time is 1,033 minutes.
Those of you familiar with the series already know that Brothers and Sisters was #33 prime time last year and averaged 10.6 million viewers per episode. Brothers and Sisters is great writing. I just wish that the plot content under-developed, at times, would delve deeper. I guess storyline dictated twists and turns make that hard to do though.
For those of you unfamiliar with the series, here is a little about the last year:
The upper class, pampered Walkers of Pasadena, California, five siblings and their devoted mother, live together but seldom are a big happy family. Their arguments, clashes, quarrels, and hurt feelings get in the way. Blackmail, firings, what is in a book, and adoption fears push their feelings to the limits. When life-threatening crises erupt, confrontations become emotional and volatile. Stressful situations involving Ojai Foods, money pit charity, medical emergencies, and a lost son take tolls too.
Love is put to the test. Marriage at a crossroads, a father’s indiscretion, and the truth about Ryan Lafferty’s mother –all cost. Every crafted plot is tangled, detangled, then retanged again and again. Watch carefully as Robert’s big secret is probed, Tommy’s has legal troubles, Nora meets her new half brother, and Ryan confesses what he has been hiding.
Brothers and Sisters is star power drama. It includes: matriarch Nora Walker (Sally Field), gay son Kevin (Matthew Rhys), daughter Kitty Walker McCalister (Calista Flockhart), eldest son Tommy (Balthazar Getty), single-mother sister Sarah (Rachel Griffiths), and drug-addicted veteran son Justin (Dave Annabelle). These roles are stellar cast.
Then there is the extended family of Rebecca (Emily VanCamp), no longer lovechild now Justin’s love; Holly (Patricia Wettig), late William’s mistress; Robert McCalister (Rob Lowe), Kitty’s political husband; Saul (Ron Rilfkin), Nora’s now out of the closet sage brother; and Scotty Wandell (Luke Macfarlane), Kevin’s life partner. What a powerhouse ensemble–articulate, inspiring, and irksome!
Fans will enjoy the video’s special features, specificlly:
(1) The Ojai Experience, a trip into wine country
(2) In Between Scenes, cast and crew practical jokes
(3) The Mothers of Brothers and Sisters, interviews with Saly Fields and Patricia Wettig
(4) Bloopers and Outtakes
(5) Audio Commentaries
(6) Deleted Scenes
