The Mouse, the Monster and Me by Pat Palmer

The subtitle for this book is “Assertiveness for Young People”. Anyone with a third to fourth grade reading level or above will find it easy to read because of its brevity. It is a neat book, illustrated and written for children eight and up.

The Mouse, the Monster and Me teaches nonverbal conflict management skills. Its not preachy but good advice that can empower boys and girls to act positively.

It tells how kids can themselves and allow their abilities and inner strengths make their lives better and more assertive. It explains how all people are valuable, need respect, and want fair treatment. and still be safe when they choose to express themselves.

Too many youngsters feel pressure when it comes to choices. They should just be themselves, ask, and remember they have the right to say no an it’s OK not to be perfect. They need to know that real compliments are given freely without strings and learn how to give them honestly as well as learn how to enjoy them.

I like message in The Mouse, the Monster and Me. Everything is about little people being themselves, learning to like themselves, being honest, and talking about their feelings.

The Mouse, The Monster And Me is available for purchase online from Uplift Press and sells for $12.99.

    Birdie,

Understand though that it needs adult guidance and takes time much like CCD lessons.

It is great to actively teach and guide children in peaceful conflict resolution.
I am glad the book addresses that!

    Nancy,

But the adult must be proactive, involved, and spur things on.
