ALVIN & THE CHIPMUNKS GO TO THE MOVIES: Star Wreck DVD
The ALVIN & THE CHIPMUNKS GO TO THE MOVIES: Star Wreck DVD is presented in full screen format with Dolby Digital English Stereo and includes the following episodes:
· Star Wreck
· Elementary, My Dear Simon
· Chip Tracy
Synopsis – The final frontier is about to get a whole lot funnier when ALVIN & THE CHIPMUNKS GO TO THE MOVIES: Star Wreck and ALVIN & THE CHIPMUNKS: The Very First Alvin Show arrive on DVD September 8, 2009 from Bagdasarian Productions and Paramount Home Entertainment. In Star Wreck, Alvin and the gang star in hilarious send-ups of Hollywood movies and characters: “Star Wreck” takes them into outer space aboard the S.S. Boobyprize; “Elementary, My Dear Simon” finds them on the trail of the infamous Moriarty; and “Chip Tracy” follows the only clean cop in a city awash in crime.
Wait until you see what Paramount released September 8, 2009, to DVD. Alvin and the Chipmunks are back again to give the audience lots of laughs and wholesome family fun.

The Star Wreck episode is a spoof on the futuristic sci-fi Star Trek. Its plot is similar to its name-sake space adventure. Scenes at the bridge, in sick bay, on an alien planet, by the shuttle, and from a transporter have Captain Dirk (Alvin), Mr. Speck (Simon), and Doctor (Theodore), piloting the S. S. Boobyprise in “The Absolutely Final Frontier”. To the song, “Bad Moon”, aliens trick the crew and kidnap the Doc. Their aim is to destroy the ship and its crew because they are not the same. Of course, the Chipmunks thwart the plans. Their message is, “Enjoy diversity and difference”.
The Chip Tracy segment is borrowed from old Dick Tracy comics. Chip (Alvin) fights crime and corruption aided by orphaned Kid Do. The story is told with a melodramatic flair as he faces peril to save his love Bess Blue Heart. He then dispatches Grumbles, Flatfoot, and Prunewhip and discovers the identity of the faceless Boss.
Elementary, My Dear Simon spins off from Mystery Theater’s Sherlock Holmes. Holmes (Alvin), Watson (Theodore), and the Scotland Yard Inspector (Selviile) must solve a strange series of burglaries where nothing of value at first is stolen–just glass, copper, coal, a telescope, and a clock. They follow the clues of a fake cat and a toy fiddle to the Cat and Fiddle Pub. Then when the crown jewels, bank money, valuable artwork, and the mint gold are stolen he knows this is the crime of the century and catches the culprit, Moriarity, the greatest criminal ever.
Young kids will love the chipmunk antics and songs They will miss the subtleties of the plots and the satire on Rodenbury, Gould, and Doyle. Luckily they will not figure out that these are based on actual literary works or their teacher may get a short cut movie report handed in as a traditional book ones. There are big differences in this comedy and the written words’ drama. Oh, for less complicated times! As for adults, the nostalgia will be satisfying.
